More about the role.
As a Data Engineer, you work on the foundation everything else depends on. You build pipelines that move data reliably from source to destination, design warehouses that make analytics and AI possible, and ensure everything keeps running as volumes grow and sources change. You work embedded at the client, learn their data and processes, and take a concrete solution to production. We build with AI-assisted development as standard. Claude Code and similar tools are part of how we work every day. That means working fast without getting sloppy, in short iterations and testing with users early.
Technology & tools
Python and SQL are at the core of most of the work. Experience with cloud data warehousing (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery), dbt, orchestration (Dagster, dlt), BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker), or LLM applications is a plus. We work as a team and support each other where knowledge is complementary. A plus is not a must!
Practical details
You build robustly, so solutions keep working when the data changes and colleagues and the client can take them over. We are looking for someone with a master's degree in a quantitative or technical field, or demonstrably equivalent level. Most of our clients are Dutch companies, so we are looking for someone who can speak Dutch at a professional level.
Working at Florence.
Florence Innovations is a data and AI consultancy from Rotterdam. We focus on getting the data foundation genuinely in order, then explore what is possible with AI.
You work in a small, senior team with direct lines and no consultancy hierarchy. You consult on design decisions, bring in a colleague when an assignment requires depth you have not built yet, and help your colleagues in return.
Our way of working is not fixed. Just as we help clients adapt to new technology, we do the same ourselves. If a new tool or technique makes our work better, we adapt. Do you see something that could be better, at a client or internally? Then that is your project.
